My first promotional post since the release of Silly Little Monsters last fall!

Before the pandemic canceled our plans the spring prior, my husband and I were preparing for an author event with some of our friends from Writing Bloc at The Book Loft in Ohio. Silly Little Monsters wasn’t out yet, but “Alpha” led the Writing Bloc Deception anthology, and I looked forward to meeting other writers. I was also super hyped for salted caramel cream puffs from a German restaurant and macarons from a French patisserie within walking distance from where we were staying in Germantown. I’m not the best at planning and organization (this writer is a “pantser” after all) but I’m an absolute beast at travel itineraries – meal planning in particular.

But I digress.

Salivating over imagined food has that effect on me. Not only do I have the inner monologue and mind’s eye, I can easily imagine the feel of the apple in my hand and the crunch and the juices as I take a bite (there’s also a better than average chance I’m imagining dessert instead of an apple).

Anyway, this summer I experimented with some alternative advertising by way of donating our books to a few Libraries in the Woods. I’ve been enchanted with the idea since the first time I encountered one on a hike. So many of my stories take place in the woods, it just felt right. Oh, and a Little Free Library at a dog park. Alpha would love it, but Danielle from “That Time of the Month” might take offense.

Now we are finally having our first author event a little closer to home at The Bookworm in East Aurora on October 23rd from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Fortunately there’s plenty of good food (and drink) to be had in beautiful East Aurora, but, alas – no salted caramel cream puffs.

Honestly I’d forgotten all about the salted caramel cream puffs until this post, and now I keep getting sidetracked.

In all seriousness, what better way to spend a quiet Saturday in October than putting on your coziest sweater, experiencing fall foliage at its peak, indulging in tasty foods and drinks at a local cafe or restaurant, and picking up a book or two of short stories, some terrifying (mostly his), others strange and amusing.

We will be reading from selected stories and signing books.

I may or may not accept salted caramel cream puffs as legal tender.

I’ve been informed salted caramel cream puffs do not pay the bills (unless, of course, you’re the one selling them).

I have something else in store for October, too, but I’m saving that reveal for the event. I can say my debut novel A Better Me comes out next spring. I have at least one short story appearing in an anthology next year, and other exciting projects in the works. And, of course, more author events!

If the writing thing doesn't work out, my backup plans include ninja, rock star, or international jewel thief.
